What to have ready for your first visit…
- A copy of your current QuickBooks file, or trial balance from other software
- Copy of incorporation certificate or sole prop registration
- GST registration date & number, filing frequency and most recent filing/statement
- PST registration number and filing frequency and most recent filing/statement
- Prior year tax return for your business
- Bank statements (the last reconciled statement from your file/previous year, and all current statements)
- All cancelled cheques and/or cheque stubs and deposit slips for the period if not shown on bank statements
- Business credit card statements (the last reconciled statement from your file/previous year, and all current statements)
- If you carry inventory, a dollar amount of the value of that inventory for start of period
- A listing of all business assets. Include items that were yours personally prior to using for the business and what percentage is for personal versus business use. Include items such as furniture, filing cabinets, computer, laptops, vehicles, equipment and tools.
- Documents for any loans or equipment leases
- If you are a home based business, please supply all utility bills, mortgage statement indicating the amount of interest paid, property tax bill, rent receipts or amount, home telephone & internet bills, the square footage of your house (include your garage only if you use it for storage/usage of your business items.)
